OUR KITCHEN

We understand that nutrition is important for growing children, as this is the age they often develop life-long eating habits.

All meals are nutritionally balanced to provide your child with the best possible start to healthy eating. A new menu is created each week and displayed for parents in each room.

All meals prepared are low in salt, fat, sugar and using fresh and unprocessed foods wherever possible. Our cook does a wonderful job catering for special diets, allergies, intolerances and fussy eaters.

If there are particular types of food that you would like you child to eat we welcome you to stop in for a chat and have it arranged to put it on the menu where ever possible.

We are a nut free centre which means we believe we have a responsibility for the health and well being of our children, staff, families and visiting community with the aim of protecting staff and children in our care who may have allergies to peanuts and similar nut products.

Products that have nuts or peanuts listed in the ingredients will not be allowed within the centre to prevent allergies arising and to protect any children or staff that may suffer from these allergies.

During celebrations of multicultural or themed programmed activities, we encourage the children to try a variety of foods relating to the themes, from fabulous creepy halloween food to preparing their own funny faced pizzas, it's wonderful to see the children encourage each other to try new things.

We have our own kitchen garden which we use to source some of our fresh vegetables and salad for the children’s meals. The children look after the garden as a part of their programmed activities which is a fabulous way for them to be involved in the environment and their meal preparation.

The design of our menu recommends ratios of carbohydrates, proteins and fats most suitable for the children. Our weekly menu’s use a range of red and white meats, fish and vegetarian meals, with plenty of fresh fruit for morning and afternoon tea.

Of course we all love the occasional treat, and the children love to share in the fresh baked goodies from the kitchen like our fresh fruit muffins, banana bread or apple spiced tea cake, just to name a few!

All food is included in the daily fee. See our sample weekly menu for details.

When we had our friends and family working bee in November 2016 we replanted the garden with some tomatoes, spinach and lots of other yummy treats. The children are looking after the garden and will learn alot as they watch and help the garden grow.

Our kitchen garden and worm farm are areas we use to teach the children about environmental sustainability.
